Benita is a passionate Life coach and Career counselor who loves to reach out to people with the desire to be better and the courage to go beyond their comfort zone. She works closely with students and young professionals to align personal, academic and career goals, develops leadership that inspires, discovers potential and builds on strengths.
Benita was awarded the Hong Kong Outstanding Student Award in 1999 for her excellent accomplishments in academics and extra-curricular activities. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Biology and Cognitive Science at Cornell University, and her master’s degree in Marine Biology at Boston University, with field research experiences throughout the USA, Mexico, Australia, and Indonesia.
With a deep interest in education and student life, Benita served as a resident advisor at Cornell University, an experiential trainer at Outward Bound Hong Kong, and Student Life Officer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Benita is committed to both students’ academic and personal development obtained a Life Coaching Certificate and a Diploma in Career Guidance and Counselling from The University of Hong Kong. She has recently been certified as a life coach from the International Association of Coaching (IAC). She served as a committee member in the Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education at University of Hong Kong. Benita is also actively engaged in supporting the development of her alma mata, Maryknoll Convent School (MCS), and has been an Executive Committee member of the MCS Foundation since 2009. Other than hosting alumni talks, she also uses her professional expertise in providing workshops on interview preparation, personal statement and overseas studies for current students.
Recently, Benita has been practicing more on mindfulness, and trying to use her skills in organizing mindful dating events with some of the real stories she has encountered.
